We are a community service for local educators. Our mission is to increase literacy, provide curriculum support and encourage readership. We are committed to providing teachers with economical teaching vehicles and innovative curriculum materials to help students develop necessary academic skills and become informed and involved citizens. Literacy experts believe that adults with low literacy skills lack a sufficient foundation of the basic skills to function successfully in our society. By providing schools with newspapers we can help prevent illiteracy at a time when young people have a support system of educators in place. Newspapers open the world to them and give them a chance to succeed. The eEdition (electronic edition) is an exact replica of The Ledger. It is not a website. It's a digital reproduction of the print paper including every article, photograph, advertisement, comic and puzzle. Search and navigate through the paper using your favorite web browser.

It's not a Web site, but an exact digital replica of the printed paper. The e-Edition is viewed on your computer and looks just like the print paper. It includes all the pages of the regular print edition, including ads, comics, classifieds and puzzles. All you need is Internet access and a standard Internet browser. A user name and password are required to view the e-Edition. The password will be sent to you by e-mail after you sign up. Each of your students will use that password. The e-Edition is delivered to your computer over the Internet. Simply log into your personalized page here. New issues are produced each night, and they are ready before your school day begins. Yes. Just click the Listen/MP3 button on the lower bar. The selected story will be read out loud. Click the down arrow on the voice reader control bar to download an MP3 file. Yes! Use the "Translate To..." drop-down bar to view articles in a variety of languages like Spanish, German, Chinese and Korean, just to name a few. Selected items that are displayed on the right side of the screen can be printed. Just print from your computer as you normally would or select the print button from the top of the page. The e-Edition will begin archiving issues in January 2010 and will store past issues for up to one year. Use the navigation drop down menus to locate items by date, publication, section or page, or use the advanced search button at the top of the page. Yes. Use the E-notify button in the top bar, and you will receive an e-mail when an article on your selected topic is published. Use the "PDF" button on the top menu to download single page(s) or the entire publication to your hard drive. You can then read it anytime, anywhere. Yes. You will have access to other the New York Times Regional Media Group papers. Just click the "NYTRMG" button in the lower bar. Yes. Every web address and e-mail address in every article is a hot link.
